Die Junge Akademie: 10 new members wanted

Sep 04, 2020 10:00 AM to Nov 16, 2020 11:55 PM

Die Junge Akademie was founded in 2000 as the world's first academy for outstanding young scientists jointly by the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and enjoys a high reputation. Die Junge Akademie has a constant number of 50 members. Every year ten of its members resign and ten are newly admitted. This year it is possible to apply for membership yourself (this is possible only every two years, alternately members are nominated by the supporting academies). Please take this into account when considering your application. For five years, Die Junge Akademie will open up interdisciplinary, scientific-political and social opportunities for its members. The members have a research budget that is used for joint scientific and artistic projects as well as a personal budget that can be used for individual support.
Applications are open to young researchers from all disciplines as well as artists who are interested in interdisciplinary work at the interfaces of science, art, society and politics and have the time capacity for active membership. The date of the doctorate or the artistic final examination should be at least three, but no longer than seven years ago (parental and care periods are taken into account). Applicants should have achieved an outstanding dissertation. In addition, at least one further excellent scientific work is expected or that the applicants have achieved public visibility with an independent artistic profile after graduation. Neither German citizenship nor residence in Germany are necessary requirements for admission. However, members should have a sound knowledge of German and must be willing to actively participate in events taking place mainly in Germany
